Busy busy busy.......it's shearing time for many of the sheepy ladies (ewes to youse) who will be lambing soon, and so lots of Tassie's best  - superfine merino fibre - is being processed in the workroom at the moment.

I have orders for Wild Fibre TasMagic Batts from Western Australia (thanks Rosemary - I'm working fast!) and Sally in the Sunshine State wants some custom-dyed 18.5 micron and some Leicester Curls...I'm onto it.

We have received a shipment of 4 ply yarn too which needs to be made joyous with colour and ready for the spring and the 8 ply shouldn't be far off.

Add to that, spinning for an hour every morning and evening as well as changing all the shop around ready for opening on 7th September!  WHEW!

FLEECE ME

Tasmanian grown fleece now available for purchase

at Oatlands Handmade for hand spinning, felting and dyeing. 

We have Superfine Tas Merino, English Leicester, Border Leicester, Mohair curls, Alpaca.  In washed, greasy, dyed in the fleece.  Full fleeces, fleece packs and by the gram.

If you would like a price list or would like to buy some of our fleeces, please email or phone and we can send to you - washed fleece to anywhere - greasy only in Tasmania (although our fleeces are clean and prepared for you, this is due to quarantine matters re potential vegetable matter and soil content).

18.5 micron Superfine Tasmanian Merino Tops (or Rovings) always available in 20g, 50g and 100g packs.  If you want more, we can make up a pack for you. (Soon to be available in hand dyed colours).

For needle felters, spinners and felters also bling batts and balls, optim superwash rovings, specialty fibre mix batts and rolls, and Firestar to add bling and zing to your project.

FLEECE & FIBRE, SPINNING & WEAVING at OATLANDS HANDMADE

Oatlands handmade is now stocking superfine merino fleece (local) 17 – 18.5 micron, clean and well skirted. Ready for whatever you want to do with it!  Also TasMerino Superfine Tops (processed in Japan).  Current lot averages 19.5 micon.  $15 per 100 g pack but wholesale prices available for ABN holders.  We also have other sheep and alpaca fleeces, alpaca hand dyed bling batts, specialist fibre mix batts, Firestar in brights and metal, wild fibre, superwash hand dyed rovings, picked hand dyed fleece packs and a range of handspun yarns.

We also are proud to stock Wendy Koolhoff's hand dyed yarns - 3ply wool, mulberry silk hanks, silk noil, plied silk hanks.  Gorgeous colours.  New stocks expected soon.

Limited stock of commercial yarns in stash quantities also stocked.  Varies from week to week.

Spinning and weaving starting soon!

If you are a  spinner and would like to sit in the store and ply your craft (LOL), we would welcome you Tuesday to Sundays for an hour or two preferably between 11 am and 3.30 pm.  If you would like to sell your product at the same time, we can arrange that for you also.  EFTPOS facilities available. Bring your own wheel or we have a couple of Ashford Traditionals available.
